Kintsugi and Lacquer Art
I first came across the name Kintsugi (金繼) while researching for a jewellery project (which later became the "Hidden Beauty" collection), but I didn't have the opportunity to learn or try it myself at that time. Later, I discovered a beginner workshop in Hong Kong and have been taking regular lessons ever since.
Through learning Kintsugi, I gained a deeper understanding of lacquer art. This practice introduced me to the intricacies of restoration, allowing me to transform damaged items into revitalized artworks. The process was not merely about repairing broken ceramics- it was an immersive experience that unleashed my creativity. It reflects both my respect for these objects and my passion for preserving traditional craftsmanship.
